In the period from 2014 to 2016, our company had been conducting a restoration of three buildings on the Miesnieku street in the historical center of Riga. The houses had been entered on the UNESCO World Heritage List, so we had an enormous responsibility on this task.
Restoration is very complex and time-consuming process. The result hugely depends upon the smallest nuances. Before construction, we had undertaken a great deal of preparatory work. To recreate the interior, facade and roof of the buildings with precision and accuracy, we gathered photos, plans, descriptions and thumbnails from the archives. Our experts conducted all the necessary calculations to determine the size of the load-bearing structures, planned engineering communications and cabling, and picked up materials to be close to the original ones.
We have done the following:
- Restoration of historic plaster;
- Restoration and exhibition of historic masonry;
- Work on the facades of the buildings;
- Works on furnace hypocaust;
- Restoration of the interior according to historical data with the purpose of coming as close as possible to its pristine appearance.
All restoration works were carried out in strict accordance with regulations on restoration of sites and monuments of culture. All historical characteristics, collected records, recommendations of local historians and art experts were taken into consideration.
